A subject that has come up from time to time with music submissions, is the submissions from song writers. I am not referring to artists that perform and write their own music, but rather song writers, whose only role usually is that of writing the track.
We often get music submissions, and it will have one name on the email and sometimes mentions the songwriter part, but then doesn't include the performer.
I want to be as tactful and polite as I can but I think I need to spell out once again a very important element. Despite how other stations, be it online or terrestrial or whatever operate, I operate both KB stations as normal broadcast operations. We follow licensing and very specific programming with target demo's and more. I love writing this because at this point one other station will make a point of saying they don't do this stuff. Good for you.
The one thing everyday broadcast operations don't do is work as a promotional tool for song writers. You may find some college stations etc that do, but tell me the last time you put on your favourite radio station, and heard the dj say, and that is the song, "my love for puppies" written by Bob smith. You will never hear it. They may say as some form of information or reference the name of the writer for but even that is pretty rare.
So as much as I love the song writers, and what you are doing, I am not here to promote your writing skills. This station is here to entertain listeners, and when we can, highlight new Indie Music.
My apologies if you think I am harsh in my wording, but some people have not been able to grasp this idea when i have explained it politely.
song writers, feel free to send you music, along with the artist performing, who we will tag and mention. We will not include the song writing credits in anything we post or broadcast. Thank you for your understanding.
